If you're setting up a self-wash car wash facility in a rural location, there are several essential pieces of equipment that your facility will need. Make sure you get the following equipment as you set up your self-wash facility.
Coin Box
Most customers will use a credit card to pay for their car wash, and all self-wash facilities should have credit card readers installed in their bays. Some customers might prefer to use coins to pay for their wash with cash, though, and that necessitates a coin box if your facility is in a remote region.
In an urban center, customers may have several nearby places where they can exchange bills for coins to use in a car wash facility. In a rural setting, however, there likely won't be a place close by where customers can exchange bills for coins. Having a coin box on-site will let customers exchange any bills that they need to quickly and easily.
Above-Ground Propane Tank
All car wash facilities need a source of power, and the most common source of power for facilities in rural settings is propane. Propane is an efficient and affordable fuel source, and it can be delivered to any location that cars and trucks are able to access. Of course, propane is stored on-site in one or more propane tanks.
When deciding what type of propane tank to install on your car wash's property, go with an above-ground tank. This will eliminate the need to dig a place for the tank in the ground, which reduces set-up costs.
Also, most rural areas don't have any prohibition against above-ground propane tanks. In some more populated places, codes require tanks to be below ground for aesthetic reasons.
Security Camera System
Since there aren't as many people in a rural location, people who want to rob or vandalize a business have more opportunity to. There isn't as high a chance that they'll be caught by a bystander who's nearby at the time of the crime.
To deter theft and help catch anyone who does try to harm your business, install a security camera system on the premises. The cameras should record video of the entire car wash, and they should be visible so that thieves and vandals are actively deterred against doing anything.
A few good places to put security cameras include on each corner of the building, at the entrance to each bay, and above the coin box.
